After a recent trip to the Amalfi coast and Campania, visiting the lovely towns of Amalfi, Positano, Ravello and Capri I fell in love with the local exuberant cuisine that features the sun-kissed vegetables, the fresh local Mozzarellas, the dried pasta, Amalfi lemons and fresh herbs, the squid and cuttle fish recipes as well as the delicious mussels and clams.
All the dishes were light and fun, the incredibly delicious San Marzano tomatoes were unbelievably sweet and in almost every recipe.
But wait!! I have tasted similarly delicious tomatoes from our local farmers especially from Chino’s farm; we have here almost the same resources that are found in Italy.
Chef Martin only uses the freshest local products, so the whole time, I couldn’t stop thinking: why can we not produce the same dishes at Mille Fleurs? You may say, Mille Fleurs is not an Italian restaurant, but consider that, throughout Europe, we have been delighting in “Mediterranean” dishes since the Renaissance.
We know that chef Martin can produce anything and make it taste great, so (after much prodding!), for the whole summer, Mille Fleurs will feature an Italian menu, in addition to our typical elegant offerings: it will usually comprise of 4 appetizers and 5 main courses, light and fresh.
Please do not be alarmed! Mille Fleurs traditional favorites will continue to be offered as well!
A selection of very reasonable Italian wines that I have hand picked will also be offered.
Voila!
We will start this menu on the first of June throughout the summer and who knows…
Come and experience, we’ll see you here!
